Coast Guard Issues Hazardous Window Alerts for Launch and Reentry

NASA will broadcast the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft’s undocking from the International Space Station on June 16, 2026, with the vehicle scheduled to re-enter the atmosphere on June 17 and splash down off California’s coast [1].

The Dragon, carrying nearly 6,500 pounds of crew cargo and scientiNc samples including bioprinted tissues and DNA-inspired materials—will depart from the station’s Harmony module at about 12:05 p.m. EDT after a command from SpaceX ground controllers.

In response, the U.S. Coast Guard has issued hazardous window alerts for space launch operations in Navarea XII, covering speciNc offshore coordinates and time windows from June 14 to 20, 2026, to protect surface vessels from debris.

The Coast Guard also warned of hazardous reentry operations for the Dragon CRS-34 reentry, specifying a hazard area near 33°24′N 119°19′W to 33°35′N 119°30′W, and advised vessels to avoid the zone during the reentry

window.
