Raumfahrt - 1. philippinische Mikro Satelliten an JAXA ausgeliefert

.

Tokyo, Japan – The first satellite to have been “researched, developed and assembled” by Filipinos would be launched in space soon after Philippine officials handed it over to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

A delegation from the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) proceeded from Tokyo for the momentous event held at the JAXA headquarters in Tsukuba City, Japan’s Science City on Tuesday.

“Today is a momentous event as our very own microsatellite starts its long journey to space. Our scientists, together with their Japanese counterparts, have long been working hard on this project and we thank them for soon putting a piece of equipment, bearing Philippine flag, to space,” said PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Primo David.

DOST engineers researched, developed and assembled the country’s first-owned microsatellite, together with Japanese scientists at Tohoku University (TU) and Hokkaido University (HU), as well as representatives from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, which is also a key DOST partner in the Philippine Microsat Development Program.
