Astra-2G will be launched after Yamal-401 satellite goes into space on December 12

.

The launch of the Astra-2G space satellite with the Proton-M rocket and the Briz-M booster will take place after December 12, the press service of the Russian space agency Roscosmos said.
“Under the effective schedule, the launch of the Yamal-401 space satellite is due next,” the source said, adding that the Yamal satellite would be put in space on December 12. Respectively, Astra-2G will be launched later.
Earlier, the state commission made a decision to remove the Proton-M rocket and the Briz booster from the launch pad due to identified malfunctioning of the booster’s control instruments.

New dates set for delayed Proton-M satellite launches

Delayed launches have been announced of Proton-M rockets carrying Russian and European telecommunications satellites.
Russia's Yamal-401 is scheduled for lift-off on December 16 and Europe's Astra-2G on December 28, Irina Zubareva, spokesperson for Russia’s space agency chief, told TASS on Tuesday.
Launches were planned for December 12 and November 28, respectively, but the November event was delayed due to malfunction in the rocket's control system.
Luxembourg-based satellite communications provider SES has developed Astra as a telecommunications channel for NATO forces. Launch before the year-end will allow Luxembourg to retain its orbital position for the satellite to move to a permanent location in a few months.

Russia’s Proton-M rocket to launch Yamal-401 telecoms satellite on December 15


The event, initially planned for December 2, was postponed until December 16 amid the delayed launch of Europe's Astra-2G
The launch of Russia's Proton-M carrier rocket with the Yamal-401 telecommunications satellite will take place on December 15, a day earlier than scheduled, Russia’s space agency Roscosmos said on Monday.
“The launch of Yamal-401 satellite is due on December 15,” the agency told TASS.
Initially, the lift-off of the Russian telecoms satellite was scheduled for December 2. However, the event was postponed until December 16 amid the delayed launch of Europe's Astra-2G.
The Yamal-401 satellite, designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company for Russian operator Gazprom Space Systems, is capable of continuously relaying signals in Europe and Asia. The satellite has 53 transponders and six antennas in C/Ku-bands.
The Yamal-401 is the third spacecraft built on the basis of a heavy-class Express-2000 platform. The mass of the satellite is 2,976 kg, the power used to carry the payload is 11 kWt, and the life span is 15 years.

Russia’s Proton-M rocket with telecoms satellite blasts off from Baikonur

Russian telecommunications satellite Yamal-401, launched early on Monday from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, separated from the Briz-M booster and reached the designated orbit, press service of the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, told TASS on Monday.

“The satellite’s separation was at the scheduled time,” the press service said.
Initially, the lift-off of the Russian telecommunications satellite was scheduled for December 2. However, the event was postponed until December 16 amid the delayed launch of Europe's Astra-2G, scheduled for December 28. Last week the launch was moved again for December 15.
