Today, the Swedish government announced increased investments in the space domain – a highly positive step forward for Sweden’s and Europe’s space capabilities. A key highlight is the additional allocation of funding to establish satellite launch capabilities at our Esrange Space Center.

This investment will support the completion of critical infrastructure, reinforcing Esrange’s role as a strategic asset for national and European access to space.

“The funding will be used to complete the necessary infrastructure at Esrange Space Center. This marks an important step in the development of Sweden’s and Europe’s space capabilities. By establishing a national satellite launch capability from Esrange, we are strengthening access to space for both Sweden and Europe – for the Swedish Armed Forces as well as commercial operators – and contributing to greater resilience and strategic autonomy in an increasingly important domain,” says Charlotta Sund, CEO and Group President of SSC Space.
