Doubleheader SpaceX rocket launch days in Cape Canaveral set for midweek
- SpaceX is scheduled to launch two Starlink missions on consecutive days.
- The Starlink 10-22 mission will launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on September 3rd.
- The Starlink 10-57 mission will launch from Kennedy Space Center on September 4th.
The Space Coast is in for a treat with SpaceX planning back-to-back launch days midweek.
First up is the Starlink 10-22 mission. Liftoff is set for no earlier than 7:06 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Next will be the Starlink 10-57 mission. This liftoff is set for no earlier than 7:18 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, from Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
Both of these missions are the latest batches of SpaceX's Starlink internet satellites. Being in the group 10 of the satellite constellation, both missions will fly on a north-easterly trajectory.
Neither mission will provide a Space Coast sonic boom, as the Falcon 9 boosters from these missions will land on SpaceX drone ships, which will be stationed out in the Atlantic Ocean.

Best beaches to watch a Florida rocket launch, from the Space Coast to Palm Beach
As summer winds down, fewer people may be going to Florida to bask in the sun or catch some waves, but beaches may still be a good place for another activity: Catching rocket launches.
Florida's Space Coast, measuring 72 miles along the Atlantic Coast, has gained fame as the most active region in the United States for rocket launches. On any given week, it's typical for multiple commercial, civil and military spacecraft – both with and without astronauts – to take off from either NASA's Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
That's good news for Floridians and tourists interested in watching a rocket propel skyward.
And because Florida is essentially warm year-round, those who find themselves at one of the state's myriad beaches going into the fall may be in an ideal spot to also watch a liftoff.
Here's a look at what rocket launches are coming up in September from Florida, as well as a breakdown by region of what Sunshine State beaches may be the best locations for launch-viewing.
What rocket launches are happening in September in Florida?
The launch schedule for September from Cape Canaveral will feature the usual heavy dose of SpaceX Starlink internet satellite deployments. Additional missions coming up in the month include a NASA resupply mission to the International Space Station, a NASA mission to study solar radiation, United Launch Alliance's next Amazon Project Kuiper satellite mission and Blue Origin's next launch of its massive New Glenn rocket.
Here's a list of the latest missions coming up from the Cape, but be aware that dates and times routinely change for a wide variety of reasons.
- SpaceX Starlink 10-57, 6:56 to 10:56 a.m. ET Friday, Sept. 5, at the Kennedy Space Center
- SpaceX NASA CRS-23 ISS resupply mission, Monday, Sept. 15, at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station
- SpaceX NASA IMAP sun studying mission, Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Kennedy Space Center
- ULA Project Kuiper 3, Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station
- Blue Origin New Glenn launch, sending NASA's twin ESCAPADE spacecraft en route to study the Martian magnetosphere, no earlier than Monday, Sept. 29, at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Launch recap: SpaceX rocket launches Friday morning from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
Launch recap: Scroll down to read live FLORIDA TODAY updates from the Starlink 10-57 mission, which launched 8:32 a.m. Sept. 5 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A.
Original story: Early risers have another chance to catch a Falcon 9 rocket take off into the dawn sky.
Should all go as planned, the SpaceX launch is set for no earlier than 8:32 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A. SpaceX states it has until 10:56 a.m. to make the liftoff.
The mission, known as Starlink 10-57, is the next batch of 28 SpaceX Starlink internet satellites. The rocket will travel on a northeast trajectory upon liftoff.
The launch will not produce a Space Coast sonic boom, as just over eight minutes after launch the rocket's booster will land on the Just Read the Instructions drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
SpaceX Falcon 9 booster lands, marks 500 landings
Update 8:40 a.m.: The Falcon 9 first-stage booster just landed aboard SpaceX's drone ship Just Read the Instructions out on the Atlantic Ocean, completing its 27th mission.
Overall, today's landing marked 500 landings of a Falcon 9 booster in the history of the rocket.
The first landing of a Falcon 9 was on December 21, 2015, when Florida watched as for the first time in history a rocket's first stage returned to land in one piece. Up until this point, the concept was science fiction. Typically, a rocket's first-stage was permitted to break apart in the atmosphere or be discarded in the ocean.
Liftoff!
Update 8:32 a.m.: The Falcon 9 rocket has left NASA's Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A!
