Scrub! SpaceX delays Falcon 9 launch try amid rain, clouds at NASA's Kennedy Space Center
Scrub recap: Scroll down to review live updates from the scrubbed Monday, May 12, early morning liftoff attempt of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on the Starlink 6-83 mission.
Original story: Will thick cloud layers, rainfall and thunderstorms further delay or scrub the upcoming 2:31 a.m. SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch attempt from NASA's Kennedy Space Center?
Welcome to FLORIDA TODAY Space Team live coverage of today's early morning Starlink 6-83 mission. SpaceX has already pushed back the liftoff time four times the past few hours as storms and precipitation continue roiling Central Florida skies.
More backup launch opportunities remain available until 3:29 a.m. if needed, SpaceX reported. The Falcon 9 will deploy a batch of 28 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit. After ascending along a southeasterly trajectory, the rocket's first-stage booster will target landing aboard a SpaceX drone ship out at sea.
When SpaceX's live webcast begins about five minutes before liftoff, look for it posted below next to our countdown clock.
Scrub!
Update 1:49 a.m.: SpaceX has scrubbed this launch attempt. However, check back in roughly 22 hours.
Crews are now targeting tonight — 11:36 p.m., to be exact — to launch this Falcon 9.
SpaceX has not publicly announced why the scrub occurred, but the entirety of Brevard County is cloaked in rain, clouds and thunderstorms, National Weather Service radar indicates.
