Raumfahrt - EchoStar secures contract to provide 5G to US Navy and agencies

EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS) has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract under the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command Spiral 4 wireless products and services purchasing program. EchoStar subsidiaries Hughes Network Systems and Boost Mobile will deliver 5G wireless services and devices to support the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies across the U.S. and its territories, as well as for international temporary duty travel. The Spiral 4 program, administered by the U.S. Navy, is valued at up to $2.7 billion over 10 years with all options included.

The Spiral 4 initiative focuses primarily on smartphones but also allows for tablets, IoT equipment, and other 5G devices. It includes hardware and service plans, customer service, support, and online portal reporting. The program necessitates Radio Access Networks (RAN) with Radio over Internet Protocol (ROIP) and Citizen Band Radio Services (CBRS) support. The contract starts in May 2024 and includes nine one-year options through 2034.
